Temi di ricerca
My research activity is presently focused on the tolerance of ericoid fungi to heavy metals, but includes also experimental activities for the study of the ericoid symbiosis with host plants. In these areas of interest, I’m developing on the following topics: 1) study of a gene involved in the fungal response to cadmium, by the preparation and the characterization of KO-mutants; 2) identification of other genes potentially involved in the heavy metal tolerance, by the genetic and biochemical characterization of mutant strains; 3) comparative genomics of heavy-metal sensitive and tolerant ericoid strains for the identification of possible adaptation signatures; 4) study of the interaction of mycorrhizal fungi with metal-based nanoparticles; 5) metatrascriptomic analysis of the interaction between ericoid mycorrhizal fungi and their host plant; 6) characterization of a possible symbiosis-effector protein by the generation of a KO-mutant; 7) heterologous gene expression in an ericoid fungus.
